Manicure Monday: 4th of July Inspired Nails!

Hi everyone I hope you're making the best of this wonderful Monday! Well it's almost that time of the year again. That time of the year filled with friends, family, food and of course giant explosions lighting up the sky. Yep, you guessed it... Thanksgiving! I'm only joking of course, obviously it's 4th of July! Since Dora and I just can't wait, we hopped on Pinterest right away and looked for inspiration for this week's very American manicure Monday! I decided to add my own manicure as well even though my nails are no where near as cute as Dora. Enjoy.

There you go guys! So you might have noticed I didn't include the regular "how to get the look" part or list the supplies used. Honestly we just went with the flow this week, making things up as we went along. In the end we used a lot of different products and I didn't feel like naming them all or writing down the process, purely cause I'm a lazy blogger. However if you do have any questions, like what polishes we used, or anything else feel free to ask me! Have a great week guys and a happy 4th of July!

What did you think of this week's manicures? Have you ever done any holiday inspired nails? Leave me a comment, I love reading them! As always thanks for reading!

These are a Few of My Favorite Things/ June 2014

Hi guys, hope you're having a relaxing Sunday! So as I'm sure you've noticed by now I am not doing an ootd post like I usually do on Sundays and instead doing this post. I was going to do an ootd post but then I noticed I never did a TAAFOMFT (too lazy to write it out, so acronym)post for June so I figured I'd do this instead. If you guys don't mind I think I might start doing this post every last Sunday of the month instead of an outfit post, that way I can fit in for the month! Let me know your thoughts!

Alright let's to get my June favorites!

The Weekly Jams/ June 27

Hi everyone, hope you're having a fantastic Friday so far! Today's been one of those days where I feel the need for a little spring cleaning. So my day has consisted of going through piles of stuff and (sometimes regretfully) getting rid of all the useless clutter that I seem to have loads of. Gosh, when did I become such a hoarder? Honestly I seem to question nearly everything before tossing it, like "who knows maybe one day I could use this in a diy project for the blog?"It ultimately comes down to me reminding myself that this "diy project" is probably never going to happen, and the only project going on is seeing how much junk I can possibly collect. I really hope some of you can relate so I can feel a little less like a crazy pack rat haha. Anyways now that I'm done with that I figured I relax by giving Lana Del Rey's new album Ultraviolence a listen while writing this post. I'm really digging the album so far so be sure to expect something off it on next week's playlist!

Enjoy this week's playlist!

  1. Sky Ferreira - 24 Hours This song has a wonderful 80's pop song vibe to it but not as "poppy" as most, if that makes any sense. It's a really great song, and actually the first song I heard by Sky Ferreira, who is an INCREDIBLE artist. Yes, all caps cause she's that good.
  2. Chvrches - The Mother We Share Another amazing song by one of my favorite artists. I've had their whole album on repeat so many times I figured I pay them some recognition. I love nearly every song on the album but this one is definitely one of my favorites. I suggest all you synth pop lovers out there check it out.
  3. Foster the People - Coming of Age I'm sure you've probably heard pumped up kicks at some time in your life so your probably familiar with Foster the People but listening to their newest album Supermodel is a totally different experience. Everything's much calmer on this album and there's a huge 70's pyschadalic vibe to some of the songs. This one in particular reminds me of something that would have been on a John Hughes movie if he were still around. Not exactly sure why, although it could be the fact that he made countless coming of age genre movies and that's also the title of the song. Just a guess.
  4. Banks - Waiting Game I had heard so many great things about this girl, that I finally had to hear her for myself and let me just say I'm impressed. This song's got a whole R&B feel to it while Banks provides lovely soft vocals that flow harmoniously with the song making it feel like something really unique that sets it apart from anything else out there.
  5. Bloc Party  - Banquet Hard to believe that this song is nearly a decade old and I still love it like I heard it yesterday. Although I suppose the songs that you truly love the most are the ones you've been listening to for years.  Anyways this song has so much energy and enthusiasm. I love listening to when I need a little boost of energy or something to get the creativity flowing. It's so good.
  6. Imagine Dragons - Amsterdam One of my favorite songs by Imagine Dragons.  If you've never heard it before definitely give it a listen.

There you go guys, hope you enjoyed this week's playlist. I feel like a couple of my song descriptions were a bit lazy this week but the playlist is always there so please feel free to have a listen if my descriptions weren't clear enough. Have a great weekend!

What did you think of this week's playlist? What are you listening to this weekend? Leave me some comments, I love reading them! As always thanks for reading!

Milani Sale Haul!

Hi guys, hope it's been a wonderful Wednesday for you all so far! So for today, I have a haul to share with you guys. As I'm sure many of you already know, I love a good bargain. So when I was at Wal-Mart doing on a bit of shopping, what was I more than happy to come across? A huge Milani sale! Nearly everything was on sale apart from their lipsticks and blushes! So I picked up some things. Before this haul I had only ever purchased a nail polish from Milani which I absolutely love! However I've heard so many good things about the brand from beauty bloggers, especially about their blushes! I wanted to pick up their blush in Luminoso but it was sold out darn it! It all worked out though because I'm really happy with what I ended up with! Let's take a look at what I got!

I picked up these three lovely baked shadows for only $2 each! A steal in my opinion! I picked out "lilly white" a fresh shimmery white, "golden touch" a lovely shimmery gold, and "black out" a very deep shimmery black. I haven't tried these out yet so I can't say much about how them but for $2 I think they're worth a shot.

More eyeshadow! So this little baked eyeshadow palette was $3 I believe! This is the "designer browns" palette.I think the colors in this one are absolutely gorgeous. I really wanted to get some nudish brown colors and I think these are perfect. There is a tad bit of shimmer to them but nothing like the first three above. Honestly I'm not the best person to review eyeshadow considering I only a few and I hardly ever wear any. So if anyone else has ever purchased any Milani eyeshadows let me know what you think about them!

This is probably my favorite thing I picked up from this haul and it was only $4!  Absolutely crazy! This is Milani's illuminating face powder in "Beauty's Touch".The packaging is really pretty and I love that the powder is in little rose patterns! However the packaging isn't the only great thing, the product itself is really amazing too. It's a blush, bronzer, and highlighter powder all in one. I love this product because there is so many different ways that you can use it. My favorite way to use it it to simply swirl everything together with my kabuki brush and apply as a blush and bronzer. As a blush it's the perfect color for a natural looking flush because it's so subtle. However if you wanted to you could use each color individually or use it as a highlighter!

Lastly I picked up these three polishes for $1 each! Honestly you can't get any better than that. I had actually had my eye on Sugar Rush for a while so I was really happy when I seen one left on sale! Diamond Dazzle is a pretty clear nail polish loaded with tiny opalescent glitter. Disco lights is a rosy pink glitter polish. Finally Sugar Rush is a cool effects polish packed with little green, orange, white, and holographic colored hexagon shaped pieces! It's best used as a topcoat rather than on it's own.

Total spent: only $16!

I couldn't be more happy with my purchases! I love when you can find a sale like this where the prices are amazing and so is the product! I bought these things about a week ago so I don't know if the sale is still on or not but I think it would be worth it to take a trip to your local Wal-Mart or drugstore and give it a look!

What did you think of this haul? Ever purchase any of these products before? Leave me a comment I love reading them! As always thanks for reading!

I'm so fancy

Hey guys, happy Sunday! So no, contrary to the title of this post we don't think we're sooo fancy. Just too lazy to come up with our own title. So yeah we may have stole some lyrics from a song that's been stuck in our heads for weeks now! Can anyone else relate? Anyways enjoy this week's ootd featuring Dora solo. I didn't accompany her because I didn't feel my outfit was nearly noteworthy enough and of course the lazy thing applies here too.

Dora's ootd:
shirt: Target
Shorts; Target
Shoes: Payless

Can you guys believe the first day of Summer was yesterday? Since it gets super hot where we live, we like to keep our outfits simple, which leads me to Dora's outfit today. It's simple yet cute, and will (hopefully) keep her cool in the unbearable heat!

I hope you liked this weeks ootd, have a great week and an amazing Summer!

What did you think of this week's ootd? What's your go to Summer outfit? Leave me a comment I love reading them! As always thanks for reading!

The Weekly Jams/ June 20

Hi everyone, happy Friday! Well at least I'm trying to make the best of it. If any of you guys follow me on Instagram you'll know that I've been feeling a bit under the weather for a while. I've been trying not to let this stop me from blogging, and so far I've succeeded. But lately I seriously can't stop coughing. It's one of the most annoying things in the world, but I'm hoping soon enough I will be over it! On the bright side since I've been resting a lot due to feeling ill, I've been listening to a lot of music lately so making this playlist was a breeze!  Who said there wasn't a silver lining in being sick? So sit back and relax, and enjoy this week's jams!

  1. Chairlift - I Belong in Your Arms. Sounds like a brilliant 80's pop song. My cup of tea exactly.
  2. Lana Del Rey - Once upon a Dream. Of course I've loved the original version of this song since I was a child. So I was beyond happy to hear that one of my favorite artists would be covering it. Lana's version is much darker and it bit on the creepy side but that's what makes it so beautiful.
  3. Twenty One Pilots - Holding on to You. I've just realized I've never included TOP in any of my weekly Jams posts! Funny considering I've pretty much spent 90% of 2014 listening to their album Vessel. I really can't explain to you how amazing this song(and every song on Vessel) is all I can tell you is that no matter what genres you like you will love Twenty One Pilots. Go ahead give it a listen.
  4. The Static Jacks - Wallflowers.  Great song about a crazy stalker ex girlfriend. This band definitely deserves more recognition.
  5. Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX - Fancy.First things first I'm the realist this isn't the type of music I usually listen to. However I can't get this song out of my mind. It's so catchy and I think something about Iggy is just so cool. Plus I love that the music video was inspired by one of my favorite movies ever, Clueless. I'm sure you've heard it before and either love it or hate it, so need for an explanation here.
  6. Birdy - Words as Weapons. I love Birdy because her music is so relaxing/comforting and everything she does is so beautiful.  I love the meaning behind this song, as well as the song itself. I'm going to be giving Fire Within a full listen today, although I'm already sure it will be amazing.

Hope you enjoyed this week's playlist. Now excuse me while I go find some more cough drops! Have a great weekend lovelies!

Did you listen to this playlist? If so what did you think of it? Like any of these songs?
Leave me a comment below I love reading them! As always thanks for reading!

Review: My first NYX purchases!

Hi everyone. Hope it's been a glorious Wednesday so far! So today I am going to be doing a review for you guys on my very first NYX purchases ever! I know what you're thinking. "WHAT HOW HAVE YOU NEVER PURCHASED NYX BEFORE?". Well the answer is simple, I didn't know it existed. How this brand escaped my knowledge for this long I will never know. I actually ended up finding out about this brand through a makeup tutorial video by Mandy Leigh on YouTube. Definitely go check her channel out guys, she's amazing! Now let's get on to the review!

So first things first. Let's talk about the brand itself. NYX is american cosmetics company founded in Los Angeles, California in 1999. They claim to be a cruelty free company and most of their products are vegan. They are a drugstore brand and carry a drugstore price more or less, however they are not sold at all drugstores. You can find NYX products at Target, Ulta, CVS, Urban Outfitters etc. You can also buy from their company website here.

I found NYX at my local Target, one of the only places you can find NYX in my town besides a CVS. So I decided to pickup a Buttergloss because that's what Mandy featured in her video and that's what I was most excited to try, I also decided to give their blush a try.

Honestly I haven't got a bad word to say about this gloss. It is one of the most amazing glosses I have ever purchased and is definitely my favorite at the moment.I picked it up in "Apple Strudel" which is a lovely peach shade. The first thing I noticed is the delicious sweet scent, almost like a sugar cookie. The next is that it has a very smooth and creamy formula that indeed does feel like it melts on your lips. It is not sticky at all, which is a problem I've had in the past with other glosses. Another thing is that it is pretty decently pigmented for a gloss, meaning it can go from sheer to medium coverage depending on how much you use. One coat gives me a pretty sheer peachy color, while two gives me a more opaque peach color almost identical to the packaging color! After a few hours though I do feel the color starts to fade so reapplying is a must, however to me that's not a huge problem! I definitely would purchase again and would love to buy every color! I could go on all day about how amazing this product is, but you'll probably want to see for yourself, so I suggest if you've never tried it before you go out and buy it asap!

tip: apply lip balm before putting on gloss as it makes for a smoother application!

I'll admit what first attracted me to this blush was the shimmer(these photos definitely do not do it justice). However this blush has made me think twice about just how much I like shimmer. More on that in a bit. So I decided to pick up this powder blush in the shade "Rose Garden" which is a pretty pink packed with flecks of gold shimmer. The first thing I noticed after opening it was how soft and silky the blush felt, this was a good start. However after applying it (using my kabuki brush) I realized that this blush is VERY pigmented. I mean I didn't expect that, I honestly looked like a china doll when I was done with this blush and It looked like I threw a sprinkle of glitter on my face! So I took it off and tried again this time barely pressing my brush into the blush, much better the second time. So yes you do have to be very gentle when applying this blush, definitely not good for the heavy handed but the payoff is really nice. The color itself is actually a really pretty pink, the shimmer is pretty too but I wouldn't complain if they eased up a bit on the shimmer. Another great thing is that is does blend very easily and is very buildable, so if you were a little too light handed the first time that's okay you can always apply more! Overall I think it's a nice product! I would definitely purchase again, just in different colors ha! I have my eye on "apricot" and "summer peach" next!

tip: a little goes a long way, apply lightly!

There you have it guys! I really hope you enjoyed reading my review on my first NYX purchases! Just in case anyone is wondering the blush and lipgloss were $5 each! Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely purchase from this brand again, especially the butterglosses, I'm in love ha! Enjoy the rest of the week!

Ever try any of these products? If so what did you think of them? Leave me a comment I love reading them! As always thanks for reading!

Manicure Monday: A Golden Seafoam

Helloooo everyone I hope you're all having a marvelous Monday! So for this week's manicure Monday Dora and I decided to go with the sea/ocean inspired look once again. We just can't get enough of it, it's such a fun look for summer! Let's get straight to it, enjoy!

How to get the look:
So firstly Dora applied false nails but I won't go in to detail about that because it's completely optional for this look. She then applied two coats of "Mar-zi-panna" which is such a pretty mint green. You can also see it here in another Manicure Monday we did! After letting that dry she applied a light coat of "Champagne Siren" over every nail except for her ring finger, leaving that as the accent nail. On the accent nail she applied gold studs all over her fingernail using her Sally Hansen I heart Nail Art Studs Kit(not pictured below, but there is a link!). The end result is a shimmering golden seafoam, a very summer worthy look!

Supplies Used:

What did you guy think of this week's look? What are some of your favorite summer nail trends? Leave me a comment, I love reading them! As always thanks for reading and have an amazing week!

Let's Sail Away

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday and Happy Father's day! I think father's day and mother's day are such lovely holidays because honestly I (and many others) don't take nearly enough time to thank my parents for all that they've done for me. And they certainly do a lot. So let's all make sure to take a moment to tell them how much they mean to us, even if it's only a quick phone call, I'm sure anything is appreciated. Now if only there were a daughter's day!

Enjoy today's nautical inspired ootd!

My ootd:
Dress: Target
Sunnies: Forever 21
Shoes: Vans

Well I hope everyone enjoyed looking at all my awkward attempts at posing yet again! I know one day I'll get the hang of it, or at least I hope I will... until then have a great week!

What did you think of this week's ootd? Ever done a nautical inspired outfit? Leave me a comment I love reading them! As always thanks for reading!
