Beauty Purchases! August 2013

Hey everyone hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday! So if you are reading this, I welcome you to my very first beauty haul (I think?)! Bear in mind that I am new to this, and I wasn't very sure if this qualified as a beauty haul or not so instead I just named it Beauty Purchases. You know what they say, better safe then sorry! Just imagine, I'd have all the YouTube beauty gurus/ beauty bloggers after my head if I got that term wrong!  Anyways enjoy.. um well whatever this thing is!

Bianca.

  • So these first two products I purchased at TJ Maxx. I love looking in the beauty/skincare section of TJ Maxx because you always find such unique and great quality items, for way cheaper than retail. I had been looking for a new body scrub after I ran out of my previous one, so I was really excited to find the two in the first picture. They are safe for all skin types and are not tested on animals. These are very different from my last scrub mainly because they are much less grainy and less thick. This is a very light scrub, with small grains, much different from sugar scrubs. They are both vegetable based scrubs with loofah fibers and made with natural ingredients like ylang-ylang, cactus flower, aloe vera, jasmine etc. So far I've tried the peach & passion one. It has a wonderful smell to it (as does oatmeal & honey), and leaves my skin feeling really soft. My only complaint would be that I wish it was a little thicker and grainier.
  • I haven't opened the makeup remover wipes yet but I just had to pick them up because I saw that they contain organic tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is really great for people with oily/ acne prone skin, both of which I have so I had to try these out. I also love that these wipes have no synthetic preservatives, are paraben free, alcohol free, hypo-allergenic, ph balanced and are not tested on animals.

  • The rest of these products I purchased at CVS. I needed a new concealer  so I picked up Revlon's Colorstay concealer in medium. I haven't tried it on yet, but  I did open it up to see the consistency of it. It is a liquid concealer and seems much lighter than my last one. Also I really love the little applicator wand that comes with it. I'm not sure about the coverage yet since I haven't worn it yet so I can't really give a decent review!  If anyone's ever tried it before, let me know how it's worked out for you!
  • Next up is this really pretty greenish color nail polish with a slight shimmer.  I've already painted my nails with this one and I love it. The polish goes on very smoothly and takes just a few coats to get a very pretty color. I would recommend three coats at least!
  • For awhile now I had been using the Murad skin perfecting lotion as my daily moisturizer. I really liked that it's oil free, however even though it's oil free, I would still feel my skin get a little oily whenever I used it. & for $35 a bottle, I felt like I shouldn't have any complaints. So I switched to this moisturizer. I like that this one is also oil free and contains salicylic acid. It's a very light moisturizer, and leaves your skin feeling really soft, not oily at all.
  • I don't use hairspray all that much but when I do I look for something with a strong hold, but something that won't leave my hair feeling all sticky. This hairspray does the trick and it smells nicer than most hairsprays too!
  • Lastly, good ol' Chapstick! I'm pretty sure everyone has bought a Chapstick lip balm at some point in their life. I used to use them a lot when I was younger but stopped when I found out about Burt's Bees.  This is my first time purchasing Chapstick in literally years, I just picked them up on a whim. I seen them at checkout for $1 each so I impulsed buy. But I'm glad I did. I've been using the strawberry one ever since I picked it up, and all I can say is that I'm pleasantly surprised  It's been doing the job at keeping my lips unchapped (is that a word?) and I'm sure I'll be purchasing them more often again!

So I just picked up Paramore's latest album today, and all I can say is I wish I would have bought it sooner. It's such an amazing album, and it's so different from anything else they've done so far. If you haven't heard it yet your missing out!

A Change is Coming. (Dream Outfit of the Week!)

A Change is Coming. (Dream Outfit of the Week!)

A change is indeed coming guys... a change in seasons! With less than a month left of summer, fall is just around the corner. I can smell the pumpkins and hear the leaves crunching beneath my feet already! As I'm sure many of you know already,  stores allover are starting to clear out all their summer clothing and merchandise and make way for all the wonderful fall attire/merchandise. So be on the lookout for sales at all of your favorite stores, there might be one going on right now! Speaking of sales, did you guys hear about ModCloth's Last Hurrah Sale? I found out about it a day after it started, and decided I'd try to get a few things. Try being the "key" word here. By the time I started browsing there was not much left and close to nothing in my size. Needless to say I didn't get anything, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up. Next year will be my year, I promise! Anyways guys there are still a few pieces left on sale at 70% off! So go and give it a look here! (note to readers: this is not sponsored in any way, I just love ModCloth!) Hope you guys enjoy my first Fall outfit of many to come! Happy Thursday!
Yours Truly,
Bianca.

Zoo Adventures!

Hi everyone I hope you are having an amazing Monday! So on Saturday me and my family decided to go the zoo! Although it was a hot enough day to melt all the lip balm in my purse (thank God that didn't happen again!), we still had a nice time. We were so relieved when we finally found our way to the little food area in the zoo so that we could buy some drinks and not die of dehydration. Yes, it was that hot. Did I mention it was hot enough times?

The first time I went I forgot to bring my camera along with me so I ended up taking a few pictures with my phone. Definitely nothing post worthy. So this time I made sure to bring my camera along and take plenty of photos, so you guys could see all the adorable animals too!

Seeing the sea lions was probably my favorite part. I think I love them so much because they remind of where I was born and where I spent my childhood growing up, and most of my life ( I only moved 6 months ago!). Although I can't help from feeling bad seeing them here in this environment. It was 104 ° F the day I went to the zoo, and I'm sure the sea lions were missing the cool coastal weather from their native home. I know I sure was!

I also got to see both of my little sisters that day and spend some quality time with them. It's not often that we all get to spend time together, since we all live in different cities and have different schedules to work around, so I really enjoyed spending time with them. My littlest sister Sienna ( the one petting the goat) is actually my half sister so she lives with her mother in another city, while my other sister Dolores (you could only see her leg in the picture) lives with my dad in another city! We all don't live too, too far from each other though so seeing each other more often is still doable!

Hope you enjoyed reading this post guys. Leave me some comments, I love reading them! Have a wonderful week!

Bianca

I was nominated for a Liebster Award!

Hey everyone so today's going to be a bit of a special post because drum roll please.... I've been nominated for a Liebster award by the amazing and talented Georgina! I'd appreciate it so much if you guys checked out her blog, it's super cute and I know you're going to love it!

For those of you who don't know what the Liebster Award is, basically it's a blog award that recognizes talented but unknown blogs. The goal here is to help promote blogs with under 200 followers, this way people get to discover amazing new blogs and be happy.

There's a few rules though. When someone nominates you, they leave you ten questions. You must make your own post answering these questions  and then create 10 of your own questions for 10 of your own nominees. Lastly you can't nominate the person that nominated you and you should probably tell people that you nominated them or else they'll never know!
Hope I explained that clearly, now it's time to answer some questions!

Georgina's questions:

1. What's your favorite season?

Definitely fall. I love everything about it, the cold weather, sweaters, scarves, beanies, boots, falling leaves and all the pumpkin flavored foods and drinks! Especially Starbucks, I love their pumpkin spice lattes! (Plus my birthday is in Fall!)

2. Favorite high-end and drugstore/high street brand?

So I''m going to assume this question is about makeup. My favorite high-end brand right now is probably Make Up Forever. I recently bought one of their foundations and I'm in love with it, I would love to try more MUF products in the future! My favorite drugstore brand is Burt's Bees. I love that their products are all natural and they don't do animal testing, plus their pomegranate lip balm is amazing!

3.What's your favorite place to go on Holiday?

I've never really been anywhere for the holidays outside of California but if I could go anywhere in the world I'd like to go to Paris or New York for the holidays!

4. How would your friends describe you?

Well I think this applies to pretty much everyone who knows me. I'm going to be honest with you guys and say I'm sure everyone would describe me as shy or quiet and probably the most caring one of the bunch. I really am an introvert at heart, and not as outgoing as I'd like to be. It takes time but once I get to know you better, I definitely will open up to you more!

5. What/Who inspired you to start your blog?

First and foremost, although this might sound cliche, my love of writing and love of fashion is what inspired me most to start blogging. Secondly,Miss Indie. Hers was the first blog I ever read, after I seen her as ModCloth's featured blogger of the month. I  followed her blog, and then one day I thought to myself "hey I think that's something I'd like to do too!" and here we are today.

6. What's your favorite blog?

This is so difficult to answer! I follow so many amazing blogs and I love them all. But if I could only read just one blog for the rest of my life, I'd  say Scathingly Brilliant. Her blog is just so pretty and girly and her (usually pastel and vintage inspired) outfits are always perfection. Reading her blog has definitely inspired me to take more fashion risks and wear what I want to wear even if it's not what "in" or the latest trend at the moment.

7. What was the first make-up item that you ever bought or was bought for you?
Besides lip balms and lipglosses, the first real make up item I ever bought was a really random little Benefit kit with a few sample size product
s of theirs. I also bought Urban Decay's Super Curl mascara at the same time.

8. What is your favorite nail varnish color?

My go to nail color is definitely black. I just think it's a really classic color and it goes with everything. This summer though, I've really been digging pastel polishes, especially mint colored polishes!

9. What is your main haircare product?

I honestly don't use much product in my hair, most days I don't have any in my hair at all. If I do, it might be hairspray, some kind of defrizzer, or sea salt spray. In my opinion the best thing a girl can have for her hair is a straightener, I don't know what I'd do without mine!

10. What's your favorite pastel color?

It's a tie between mint and lilac.

There you have it guys! Hope you enjoyed reading my answers, now here are my nominees!

2. What inspired you to start blogging?

5. What songs are you currently obsessed with?

Zebra Watching! (Dream Outfit of the Week)

Zebra Watching! (Dream Outfit of the Week)

The theme of the week's outfit is definitely zebra's, although I'm sure some of you could say it's also blue-ish colors as well.  Geez I didn't realize everything was so matchy matchy  until after I was finished putting it together. Anyways I spotted this zebra print dress, while browsing through Ruche and was instantly in love. Anything with animal print is always a plus for me guys. I don't mean like animal skin prints though, I mean like actual pictures of the animals (i.e. this dress). Also how many of you guys are liking the flower crown/headband trend going on? Personally I think it's incredibly adorable. The only thing is, I haven't quite mustered up the courage to try this one out myself. I don't know why though, I mean what have I got to lose?  Get a few weird looks from strangers? Ehh, it wouldn't be the first time. Lesson learned guys, don't let anyone else stop you from dressing how you want to dress or even just being yourself. It's your life, not theirs. Once again hope you enjoyed the outfit and my short ramblings.
(P.S. I was nominated for a Leibster award, so stay tuned for my next post all about that!)
Yours Truly,
Bianca.

via Pinterest

Hi guys so as you can see, today I decided to make a post all about pictures and things I've seen around the internet lately that have inspired me in some way, that I like, enjoy or maybe I want to try or buy. I've been wanting to do a post like this for awhile now, but I wasn't quite sure what to name it. I've seen a lot of other bloggers name these types of posts "Friday Favorites", so I was just going to go with that, but I wanted to think outside of the box ( plus I'm not sure if I'm going to do these every Friday or every month yet?). So I went with "These are a few of my favorite things". It serves the same purpose (without the commitment) and at the same time is a reference to one of the cutest movies ever. How could I not go with it? Nothing set in stone though, so who knows maybe next time it will be "Friday Favorites" After all what's life without a little mystery? I love hearing from you guys, so leave me a comment or email letting me know what you think!
Hope you have a great weekend.
Yours Truly,
Bianca.
