The Weekly Jams / May 23

Hey Everyone, happy Friday! This week has certainly been a big one for me. My very first brother was born this week! Honestly I'd never thought I'd have a brother,  or another sibling for that matter. Afterall look at our age difference,I'm nearly 21 years older than him! Crazy to think that by the time he's my age I'll be about 42 years old!.Boy is it scary looking that far ahead! In all seriousness though, I just feel really blessed and I couldn't be happier.

On to other news! I've recently been working on updating the blog a bit. I've created a twitter and instagram for the blog and added a few social media buttons so if you guys ever feel bored to death come by and check those out! Also I've been thinking of updating the whole look of the blog, although I'm iffy on that because being the graphic design novice I am, I will mostly just make a mess of everything.FYI: I've recently developed a strong hatred for HTML codes and all that jazz. I'll make sure to keep you posted on the updates or lack thereof.

SO for today's post...

Once again I am introducing a new weekly topic. Every Friday from here on I will be posting "The Weekly Jams" which is just basically a list of songs and artists I've been listening to lately. My sister Dora will also be collaborating with me on these posts, she'll be reviewing her 'jams" while I'll be reviewing mine! I don't know guys I'm beginning to think she's on a mission to take over ma blog! JK but who knows maybe this could turn into a whole Beautiful Mess kinda thing? Enjoy.

Dora's Jams
  1. The Neighbourhood - I love you. This album has such a chilled and relaxed vibe. I think it's one of those albums that's great to put on when you want to get your creativity flowing.
  2. YG - My Krazy Life.  I love this whole album but I definitely play "Bicken Back Being Bool" the most. Sometimes even back to back. He spits west coast rap & in my opinion one of the best.
  3. Ty Dolla $IGN - The Beach House EP. Now I'm sure most of you have been out somewhere and heard "or nah" play. A more recognized song. but definitely deserves the fame. The EP is one of my favorite albums to throw on anytime really.
  4. Foster The People - Torches. This one's a bit old, but I never seem to get tired of it. It's just a really fun album to listen to.
  5. Drake - The Language.  Great song by the best Canadian rapper out there.
  6. IAmSu! - Mobbin.  From the HBK gang here's IAmSu! definitely one of my favorite songs, mobbin. unfortunately he's to underrated to get the title he should.

Bianca's Jams
  1. Betty Who - Slow Dancing EP. Honestly this one has been on repeat pretty much all month. I think the best way to describe it is '80's dance pop. It's such a fun album, it just makes you wanna get up and go dancing in your oversized shirt and leg warmers!
  2. Semi Precious Weapons - Aviation High. I actually found out about this song by downloading it though iTunes as one of the free downloads of the week. I'm so happy I did. Everything about this song is perfect. The melody. Lyrics. Vocals. Vocals.Vocals.
  3. Neon Trees - Pop Psychology.  Once again '80's inspired. I've been a faithful Neon Trees listener since Habits came out back in 2010 so of course I had to listen to their new album. I first heard "Sleeping with a friend" which is just so catchy and a really fun song. The rest of the album definitely follows suit.
  4. Lana Del Rey - West Coast.  Initially when I first heard this song I wasn't too impressed. In all honesty I thought it just sounded like everything else she's done. Monotone & very, very chill. The reason I came to like it though is for the simple fact that I just couldn't get it out of my head. I'm sure it will be blowing up the charts soon, if it isn't already. I mean it's Lana afterall.
  5. Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea - Problem. Along with everyone else in the world this has been my song ever since it came out. It's so catchy! Also I love the'90's R&B feel her music conveys.
  6. 5 Seconds of Summer - She Looks so Perfect. My guilty pleasure song of the moment.I can feel you judging me right now. Why is it anyways that people tend to judge someone over the age of 15 if they like a boyband? Hmmm....

Thanks for reading! What are you listening to right now? Are you currently loving any of these songs? Leave me a comment letting me know!

Another Liebster Award?

No you're not experiencing Deja vu. Yes I am doing another Leibster Award post! I was nominated by the amazing and hilarious Tessie of Socks with Sandals (and other fashion disasters)! If you can't tell she has an awesome sense of humor from her blog's name, then I don't know. I just don't know.  Anyways I'd love if you all gave her blog a look!

Now I'm sure most of you already know the drill but for those of you who don't know what the Liebster Award is, basically it's a blog award that recognizes talented but very little known blogs. The goal here is to help promote blogs with under 200 followers, this way people get to discover amazing new blogs and make new blogger friends at the same time!

There's a few rules though:

When someone nominates you, they leave you ten questions. You must make your own post answering these questions  and then create 10 of your own questions for 10 of your own nominees. Lastly you can't nominate the person that nominated you and you should probably tell people that you nominated them or else they'll never know!
Hope I explained that clearly, now it's time to answer some questions!

Tessie's Questions:

1. Are you a morning or night person?
In the past I would have easily answered night, but I'm slowly trying to become a morning person. There's something so comforting about waking up when the sun's barely peaking it's head out and just going outside and drinking a cup of coffee/tea and relaxing (while scrolling through my instagram/bloglovin feed!). Although I'll admit I have a rough start!  I am incredibly tough to wake up in the morning and I absolutely loathe my alarm clock!

2. Descibe your perfect day.
Honestly this is a tough one because there are many scenarios that I can think of that I would call a "perfect day". I guess if I combined them all I'd be with friends and family at the beach, watching one of my favorite bands, eating some of my favorite foods while shopping! Boy does that sound hectic!

3. In your opinion, are rainy days depressing or relaxing?
My love for rainy days is far greater than any person's should be. Just check out my About Me! So yeah, relaxing for surrrrreeee.

4. What one saying/phrase/cliche/sentence describes you best?
A beautiful Mess. I'd like to think that even though my life can be a big disastrous mess at times that everything will turn out beautifully in the end. I suppose that's just part of the journey. I also really like this quote from Elsie De Wolfe!

5. Given the choice, would you go back in time or forward, and when?
I would probably go back in time. I wouldn't go forward because I'd like the future to be a surprise and I'd be too tempted to change something that I didn't like. I'd probably visit my early childhood, sense I don't remember that too well!

6.  If you were "starting over" in life, and could only bring one object, what would you bring?
This is a deep question, however my answer's not. I'm gonna have to say my phone. Even though I'm starting over and obviously don't have much purpose for a phone I'd still like to be able to listen to music and have it in case an emergency pops ups!

7. Dogs or cats (or rabbits, or parrots, or goldfish, etc...)?
Can I say dogs and cats? I love dogs, I'm the proud mom to one shnau-tzu named Zooey. But I'm also a wannabe cat lady! I love buying cat themed clothing and anything else. One day I'd like to have my own, but until then I'll admire them from a distance (basically the internet)!
Zooey at 9 weeks.
Zooey today! Sorry for the bad cell phone quality photo. And yes I know she's due for a haircut!

8. Who is the one famous person you'd love to meet?
Oh my, I've got so many! Like seriously, I'm a crazy fangirl. I guess if I only got to meet one, I'd meet Tyler Joseph of Twenty One Pilots. I am obsessed with them right now and I'd love to meet the man behind those creative, inspirational, and slightly neurotic lyrics.

9. Read the book or watch the movie?
Both. I love reading the book first to see how faithful  the movie is too the novel and spot the differences. In a perfect world I'd always read the book before watching the movie.

10. Who is your favorite fictional character?
"Favorite" questions are always so difficult! I will give you three that I admire.
Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's because she just has such a positive and upbeat attitude about life even when things aren't ideal. Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby because of his determination and perseverance. He overcame many obstacles, and did everything he could to get all that he wanted. Lastly Belle from Beauty and the Beast because as a kid and even now I could relate to her "wanting something more than this provincial life" and her love of literature.

11. What is your favorite activity?
Writing.

There you have it guys! Hope you enjoyed reading my answers, now here are my nominees!

http://clothesandshit.blogspot.com/

My questions for my lovely nominees are:

1. What inspired you most to start blogging?
2.What does your daily makeup routine consist of?
3. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
4. What is your favorite blog to read?
5. What are some hobbies you enjoy doing?
6.Favorite song at the moment?
7. What's a current movie you're really excited to see?
8.What makes you most happy?
9. What's at the top of your bucket list?
10. Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe?

Can't wait to read all your answers! Thanks again to Tessie for nominating me, I love doing these kind of posts! Thanks for reading!

Manicure Monday: Pinata Party

Hi Everyone! Just in case any of you are having a dreary Monday (it happens to the best of us!) you've come to the right place. This week's manicure lovingly titled "Pinata Party" is such a fun and sweet Mani, how could it not put you in a better mood? Enjoy!

How to get the look:
My sister created this week's fun look by applying two coats of "Mar-zi-panna", which is such a pretty mint-turquoise creme polish. Similar to Essie's "Mint Candy Apple" . She then applied one coat of each glitter polish. The end result is a bit gritty because of the glitter pieces so if you do try this look and prefer a smoother surface I would suggest putting on a topcoat.

Supplies Used:

Hope you guys liked this week's manicure! Do you guys own any of these polishes? Would you like to try this look out? Let me know!

Once upon a Time...

Hi everyone. Hope it's been a nice and relaxing Sunday for you all so far. Today I thought I'd share with you all the infamous OOTD post! I have to admit I was really considering talking myself out of this as I am pretty darn self conscious at this point in my life (something I am working on) and don't really enjoy taking photos of myself. Plus who knew pretending to be a model would be so hard? In the end though I decided it would be best if I push myself out of my comfort zone, and just do it. I mean after all this is a blog that largely focuses on fashion. What kind of lifestyle/fashion/beauty/anything blogger would I be if I never showed you some of my own personal outfits? Oh, and my sister Dora was also kind enough to join me! Okay, no more stalling. Enjoy!

My Sister Dora's Outfit
Dress: Target
Belt: Target
Shoes: Wet Seal

My Outfit
Cardigan: Old Navy
Shirt: Bloom
Jeans: Target
Shoes: Toms

For this OOTD post we couldn't have been more opposite. I definitely went for the spring casual look while me sister went for a more dressed up spring look (but it can be easily dressed down as well, if we changed the shoes!) My sister topped off her look with some adorable wedges that she bought at wet seal! I think they really tie the outfit together! I choose to wear some light pastels (shocking, I know!) as well as my most beloved pair of Toms. I believe they came out in last year's spring collection. Oh ,and if this whole blogging thing doesn't  end up working out  I think we totally got the modeling thing down, haha!

What do you guys think of today's outfits? Thanks so so much for reading!

Pretty in Pastels - May Fashion Wishlist

Hi everyone hope you are having a tremendous Thursday! I'd like to welcome you to the first Monthly Fashion Wishlist. This is where I talk about and display all the clothes and accessories I've been swooning over for the past month. I'm sure you guys will fall in love with these things as much as I did! However I am not sure yet if this monthly post is going to be replacing my dream outfit of the week posts entirely or if it is just going to be an addition. Let me know what you guys would think I should do!

Pretty in Pastels

SmittenStatement Pullover

This month's list is a bit of a special one, not only because everything is in dreamy pastel colors. Oh, pastels how I love thee! But also because every single item in this wishlist is from MPR. I don't know about you guys but I absolutely love that feeling when I discover a brand new clothing store and everything is so cute and amazing and I'm just like ahhh where have you been all of my life? You know what I mean? I enjoyed a similar experience when I discovered this store. So incase you've never heard of MPR, it'san online clothing and accessories store based in South Africa. I love it because of the diversity of all their products. There's a little something for everyone there, you just got to look around. Also I'm certainly a bargain hunter and MPR fits my fancy. They've got ultra cute clothing at an affordable price. So,yeah I'm happy.

It's Spring so pastels are in full bloom so I went all out and picked out every pale shaded garment and accessory I could find. I'm pretty happy with how my wishlist turned out and still considering if I should use this wishlist as perhaps a May shopping list instead?

Well I hope you guys fell in love with everything in the wishlist too! You should definitely go check out MRP for more pastel princess worthy clothing and much more. Also if you really, really liked some of the things I featured in this wishlist you should enter MRP's contest to win a fashion voucher worth $250! Click here to enter or just click the banner below!

Let me know what you guys thought of this wishlist in a comment below! As always thanks for reading!

Welcome to Manicure Mondays! - "The Slightly Tough Ballerina"

Hello to all my faithful readers ,that is the ones that stuck around during my indefinite hiatus. I know it's been awhile and I'm sure that you've all noticed by now that nearly all my posts have been destroyed. Yeah that was kinda my fault. So one day I decided it would be a good idea to delete all of my blog  pictures on my Google+ account. I was in a spring cleaning kind of mood (anyone else ever get like that?). Little did I know it would delete all the pictures on all of my blog posts. Silly me. And since I didn't prepare any backups that's it, they're gone for good. So I am really sorry about that guys, all I can offer up as an reconciliation is that I'm trying to get back on my blogging game and that many quality posts are coming in the near future. No promises this time though.

P.S.  I'd like to wish a late happy mother's day to all my wonderful mommy readers out there!

To Kick things off I'd like to start with an entirely new idea. Manicure Monday! It's something that me and my sister Dora both collaborated on and I am very excited about. I've been wanting a little more structure in my posts so I think that this is a good start! It's an idea that I've had in mind for awhile but although I can do a fairly decent manicure I always seem to make a few mistakes here and there and I don't usually feel confident enough with my work to create a post about it. On the other hand my sister was blessed with the amazing manicure skills that I lack. So together we are going to start doing a weekly post showcasing my sister's weekly manicure and how you can get the same look at home.

For this manicure my sister decided to use one of the most palest, and sheerest shades of pink she could find. First she applied artificial nails onto her real nails using the kit listed below. She then shaped them into a slight point. Next she applied two coats of the pale pink to give it more of an opaque look and let it dry. Note: If you decide to use this color on your natural nails instead you may need more than two coats as it will still be very sheer on your natural nails. She then decorated her ring fingers with gold studs using nail glue and studs included in the kit below. As you can see she only decorated the lower left half of her nail with the studs but the great thing about this look as that you can design them however you'd like to!

Supplies Used:

As always thanks for reading! Leave me some comments letting me know what you thought of this manicure!

October 2013 Beauty Purchases

Hi guys, hope you are having a magnificent Thursday. Okay so I know it probably seems like I say this all the time but I'm so sorry that I haven't been posting very much lately. The next morning, after my last post I woke up with a terrible sore throat which quickly progressed into the flu, it lasted for about a week. Wonderful way to ring in Fall right? On top of that I just finished taking my finals yesterday so I was also busy with studying and turning in late work before the deadline. Now that my schedule is finally relatively clear I thought I'd share with you guys my October beauty purchases. Everything in this post I bought at Target except for the first two items. Hope you enjoy!

I bought this hairbrush at Forever 21. I just thought that the floral print on the back was really adorable and I needed a new brush. There's not much more I can say here besides it does the job. You can find it here.

I also bought this nail polish at Forever21. I'm a sucker for pastel colored polishes and since my lilac colored Essie polish was starting to dry out I thought I'd give this one a try. I've tried Forever 21 polishes before and I liked them so I hope this one works the same. I was also looking for a new mint colored polish, but sadly I didn't find one. You can find it here.

So I am sure that you guys have seen, bought or at least heard of these by now.  Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable balm stain does exactly what it says. It goes on smoothly like a lip balm and leaves a lasting color on your lips like a stain. The color I picked up is "honey" which is a lovely natural pink. Personally on me the color does not show up as much as I'd like it to probably because my lips are too pigmented. However I think if your lips are not very pigmented this a lovely color you can even wear daily for a natural look. And did I mention the smell? It has a minty fresh scent which I personally love! I'd love to purchase this balm stain in a deeper color when I get the chance!

I've been buying liquid eyeliner for so long now when I went shopping for a new eyeliner I felt like it was time for a change. So I went for this creamy pencil style eyeliner. It glides easily on the eyes and does not feel uncomfortable at all like some other pencil or "pencil style" eyeliners. I got it in "midnight master" which is the deepest black this line has. I'm almost positive I will be purchasing this eyeliner again!

I'm almost ashamed to say this but this is only the second make-up brush that I've ever purchased. Other than this brush I only own a foundation brush that I purchased at Sephora when I purchased my MUF foundation. The sales lady convinced me I needed it,but I'm not complaining. Honestly I don't know how I managed to live without it, it was a really great investment. However brushes from Sephora can get quite pricey so when I thought about buying a kabuki brush I thought I'd start with something cheap and then if that doesn't work out I'll probably end up buying one from Sephora as well. I haven't used this brush yet so I can't say much yet. All I can say is it feels really soft and I haven't noticed any fall out so far. I've heard some pretty good things about elf brushes so I hope this one lasts for awhile!

When I picked up my kabuki brush I seen this blush/bronzer duo and remembered a review I had read about it on Alexandra's blog. She said some pretty good things about it, so I figured why not try it out, afterall it was only $3.  I purchased this duo in the color "St. Lucia" which has been called a cheap but decent dupe of NARS "Orgasm" blush and "Laguna" bronzer many times. However since the NARS duo costs around $40, there is definitely a huge price difference. I haven't used it yet but the blush and bronzer both have a slight shimmer and are in lovely colors. I'm really excited to try this one out!

Last but definitely not least, Pacifica's "Indian Coconut Nectar" body butter. Oh my goodness you guys I wish smell-o-vision was a real thing. I just want you guys to know how incredible this stuff smells. To put it in the simplest of terms, it smells like Summer. It has a lovely coconut and vanilla scent that in a way reminds me of the smell of sunblock and the beach and all of that good stuff. This is great because even though my favorite seasons are fall and winter I just love using fruity, floral summer scents all year long. Also not only does this lotion smell incredible it's also very moisturizing, which is what a good lotion should be. It's also 100% vegan and cruelty free and a portion of the proceeds go to people in need of clean water. I would definitely recommend purchasing this lotion and other products from Pacifica, because they all smell so lovely.

Let me know what you guys thought of this post! Have you ever tried any of these products? If so what did you think of them?
